NSW: teachers to be offered cash incentives to work in bush

New South Wales teachers have been offered cah incentives of $10,000 to take up positions
in remote parts of the state.

Education Minister JOHN AQUILINA says a one-off $10,000 payment will be made to teachers
who agree to work in remote locations for at least two or three years.

A $5,000 retainer will also be paid to teachers for every year they remain at their
post after the minimum period.

The scheme is designed to remedy staff shortages and high turnovers in a number of
remote schools.

Mr AQUILINA says many people who've taught in these schools have found it a very enjoyable
lifestyle and stayed beyond their minimum period.

More than 18 schools were expected to benefit from the scheme -- most of them small
and in the west of the state.
