ALBANY -- Seemingly, a television cannot be surfed, a radio scanned or a newspaper opened these days without New Yorkers encountering a political message.

Even Internet browsers are finding no refuge from the politicians and their relentlessly self-promoting ways as the 1998 campaign season enters the homestretch.

All major-party politicians seeking statewide office this November except for state Attorney General Dennis Vacco have campaign Web sites, and Vacco's could be online this week.
